Discover the Simplify Tool for surface and solid treatment
The tool Simplify can be accessed through the menu surface, and is divided into two distinct operations: Decimate and De-spike. Both operations aim to simplify the desired geometry, but each is applied to a different type of situation.
The operation Decimate can be used to reduce the number of faces on a surface or solid, without causing a significant change in terms of area and volume. When selecting this option, it is necessary to inform the value of the maximum average co-planar deviation (Maximum average offset from co-planar), where faces that have values equal to or lower than this parameter are removed.
The operation De-spike is used to remove spikes vertical. Spikes They are thin, needle-like extrusions, with a large ratio between height and base area, as shown in Figure 1.
O De-spike It is an operation that does not preserve the surface area, however, the volume is maintained. To use the option, the user must enter two values: the maximum wall thickness of the Spike (Spike's maximum wall thickness) and the maximum length/height ratio of the Spike (Spike's maximum width/height ratio). Figure 2 shows a comparison between before and after the reduction in spikes, using this operation, while Figure 3 shows the configured tool, and a preview of the area that will be changed.
