Smooth Substring: Practicality in smoothing of line segments and polygons.
Did you know that the MinePlan Do you have a very practical tool for smoothing line and polygon sections?
with the tool Smooth Substring, located in the menu Polyline – Substring, you can dynamically smooth the shape of lines and polygons in order to obtain a new shape.
When starting the tool, you must define how the creation of new points that will change the geometry of the line/polygon will be performed:
Figure 01: Polyline – Smooth Substring.
- target point spacing: Specify a distance that represents the interval between the points that will be created between the chosen segment's start and end point.
- Insert new points: Define the new number of points that will be created between the starting point and the ending point of the chosen segment.
Once the methodology is chosen, just specify the segment to be smoothed by clicking on two points of a line/polygon. If the geometric element is a polygon, you must click on which segment (internal or external section) you want to apply smoothing.
Once the segment is defined, two arrows and a yellow dotted line will be shown between the points. The dotted line is a preview of how the result will look. To modify this line, click and drag one or both of the arrows to define the new appearance of the drawing. The following image illustrates the smoothing of a section of a polygon.
Figure 02: Example: Polyline – Smooth Substring.
In this way the tool Smooth Substring becomes fundamental for drawings of pits and projections of mining advances, given the facility to edit the design and, mainly, to optimize manual adjustments.
