Discover Hexagon MinePlan GeoLogic: Implicit geological modeling in MinePlan.

Did you know that the package MinePlan does it have a powerful implicit geological modeling module? In today's Tips & Tricks, we'll talk about it: the GeoLogic!

O GeoLogic it is a package software MinePlan capable of creating surfaces and solids, generating a robust and representative three-dimensional model of the geology of a given region. The program uses radial basis function (RBF) algorithms. Radial Basis Functions) to model geological bodies from drilling data, trench samples or mining fronts. The results show closed solids, with natural contours and statistical reliability (Figure 1).

O GeoLogic can be opened under the menu Geo Tools of MP3D, presenting a simple and intuitive interface. It allows generating geological events in isolation, which sandbox, or in sequence, called timeline, the first mode being ideal for testing data and settings, or spot updates. Already the mode timeline it is especially important in complete geological reconstruction, since the order of events such as faults, veins or intrusions affects the final result, intersecting the oldest layers.

Once generated, all solids and surfaces of the GeoLogic can be seen directly in the MinePlan 3D and compared to the hole views stored in the Drillhole Manager (Torque), for example (Figure 2). If necessary, the user can easily change parameters and reconstruct the geological model, which allows the geologist to build and explore different scenarios, refine and create complex models, which can be quickly updated with new information.

Once modeled (Figure 3), the solids representing the geology of a given location can be useful for stamping block models, in the planning of drilling holes or even in the infrastructure and mining of a mine.
