Lock Scheduling Periods – MinePlan Schedule Optimizer (MPSO): Agility and efficiency in editing project configurations. Did you know that MinePlan Schedule Optimizer presents, from its most recent version, MPSO 13.20-00, an option that makes it possible to lock periods already sequenced, allowing the user to make edits without losing the sequencing of these periods? Previously, when making edits in Process Flow, such as changing the reservation logic, or adding and removing cuts, the sequencing was restarted after applying, thus losing the results already obtained. According to the amount of data, recalculating the sequencing could take a long time to achieve the result again. With a view to improving the user experience, saving time and avoiding rework, the Lock Schedule Periods option allows the user to lock the sequencing results until the desired period, which allows the necessary edits to be made…

Batch Create in MinePlan Sigma: Creation of several graphs with one click. Did you know that Sigma allows you to create different graphs at once, using categories, cut-offs or content ranges? In today's Tips & Tricks, we will see an easy and quick way to analyze our data. MinePlan's statistics and geostatistics module, called Sigma, is a complete tool for analyzing your data, through the creation of tables and graphs, such as histograms, box plots, and variograms. A practical feature of Sigma is Batch Create, which allows you to create a set of charts of the same type. The graphs created will be differentiated according to a categorical variable, such as: lithology, cut-offs or grade ranges. These graphs are created using the Batch Create option, present in the Sigma top menu. Use…
Pushback design is one of the most important elements in open pit mining planning. This technique consists of defining excavation phases that are economically viable, safe techniques and strategically organized to optimize resource cleaning. A good pushback design allows you to advance in stages, prioritizing the areas of greatest value and maintaining the stability of operations. By choosing the right design, laurel operations gain in efficiency, mineral utilization and cost control, generating added value to the project. To plan the pushback project, there are different methods that can be applied according to the type of deposit and the objectives of each mining phase. Learn about the Incremental and Directional methods, two approaches widely used in the sector. What are Pushbacks? Pushbacks play a…
Link Viewer – Reserves: Visualization of cuts and topographies inserted in MinePlan Reserves 4.5. Did you know that MinePlan Reserves 4.5, released together with MinePlan 2023 Release 2, has a new option, which allows the user to view the selected cut or topography in its interface? The Link Viewer option, located in the Geometry Cuts and Surface Cuts tabs, makes it possible to highlight selected geometries and/or surfaces on the MinePlan 3D (MP3D) screen. To do this, the user must access Setup Reserves located in the MP3D Reserves menu, insert the desired geometries to perform the cubing and enable the Link Viewer option. Subsequently, when selecting a certain element in the tool interface, it will be highlighted in MP3D, as shown below. Figure 1: Link Viewer option – Mineplan Reserves 4. So, did you like this tip? For more information about the Link Viewer option…
Pushback Naming – MinePlan Project Evaluator: Automatically naming pushbacks generated during optimization. Did you know that the MinePlan Project Evaluator (MPPE) features an option that makes it easy to nominate different pushbacks created in your project? During the pit optimization stage, it is common to work with a large volume of information, especially after carrying out sensitivity analyses. Therefore, organizing data is a great way to facilitate the workflow of a project. In MinePlan Project Evaluator (MPPE), when working on the Pushback Task to generate mining phases, you can automatically name, through the use of tokens, the different pushbacks created by the optimization. This can be done via the Pushback Name option. Tokens can be assigned names considering parameters such as: incremental order of phases; economic function that was used; methodology for defining…
Data Manager: Organizing data and managing object visualization. Did you know that MinePlan 3D (MP3D) has in its interface a section dedicated to the organization and management of your data? The Data Manager, located on the left part of the MinePlan interface, is responsible for functions such as managing, creating and deleting folders and objects from a project, opening and closing folders and objects, importing and exporting data, among others. . It is divided into two tabs: the Project View tab, which contains all project folders and objects in the upper part, and the contents of the selected folder in the lower part. And the Open View tab, where only the data that is open is shown at the top, and the Materials assigned to elements of those objects are shown at the bottom. Figure 1…
MinePlan Activity Scheduler – Database: New MinePlan Activity Scheduler (MPAS) storage option in MinePlan 2023 Release 2. Did you know that in the new version of MinePlan, an option for remote storage of MPAS projects has been added? The latest MinePlan update, MinePlan 2023 Release 2, includes an option that allows users to store and access their MPAS projects remotely, also allowing access by more than one simultaneous user to the same project. To use this option, the user must map a server, where the project will be stored, through the option Configure Remote Data Store Location, available in MPAS/Planner Project Converter in the Utilities menu of MinePlan 3D (MP3D). It is necessary to map the Host (ID) of the server and the Port of access to it, and then create and configure the project normally…
The Mineral Content panel allows you to define mineral content restrictions for destinations, applying a lower and upper limit for each material, destination, area, phase and period.
MPSO Shovel Control: Control of excavators in sequencing. Did you know that MinePlan Schedule Optimizer (MPSO) has an option that allows the user to easily control/associate excavators in their project? The Shovel Fleets option, located on the Advanced Constraints tab of the MPSO, allows the user to associate excavators by phases, banks, cuts and periods, in addition to allowing control of the number of equipment to be used. When accessing this tab, the central windows can be used to specify which of the options the equipment will be associated with. In the Properties window, you must select Shovels as the restriction type, and later, specify the periods in which this restriction will be applied and the desired equipment in the Shovels Fleets option. Use the Apply option to confirm it. Figure 1: Advanced Constraints tab – MPSO. After clicking Apply, you can access the Shovel Constraints window and…
Calculated Sample Attributes: Variables calculated in MinePlan Drillhole Manager. Did you know that MinePlan Drillhole Manager is able to perform calculations and store its results in a variable for samples? In today's Tips & Tricks, we'll learn more about the calculated variables of the Drillhole Manager. Calculated variables can be used in a variety of ways to help you with multiple tasks and analyses. To create a calculated field in MinePlan Drillhole Manager, access the project setup area under Project > Setup. From the drop-down menu, select the Calculated Sample Attribute option. The variable must belong to one of the available Coverages, and must be configured according to its purpose. See, in Figure 1, the configuration window of a calculated variable. Figure 1: Configuration of a calculated variable. When creating a variable of this type, you must create a code…
