Contour Tool : Practicality and effectiveness when creating contour lines of a solid or surface.
Did you know that the MinePlan 3D have a tool that lets you create contour lines from a solid or surface?
The tool Contour Tool lets you automatically create contour lines from surfaces or solids. It can be used to generate the contours of a topography, or the toe and ridge lines of a pit design, for example. To do so, just access the tool from the menus polyline or surface.
You must then select the required geometry, and define the elevations at which you want to create the contour lines. in the section Elevation, the option Find Limits can be useful for finding the vertical boundaries of your element. Already the box increment allows you to set the desired vertical distance between levels where the contour lines will be created. as the standard MinePlan, The button preview allows you to preview the results, and after making the necessary adjustments, the button apply saves the results.
An example of the application of the tool Contour Tool can be seen below, showing the tool settings for generating the foot and crest lines of a solid.
Figure 1: Contour Tool.
on the tab Output tool, you can specify the object where you want the results to be saved, in addition to selecting other options regarding the elevation of the generated lines. on the tab Options, you can select other settings for the generated lines, such as smoothing the lines or generating lines parallel to a Grid . The option "Contour coincident faces and and edges” is especially useful for generating foot and crest lines, as shown in the figure above. already in the tab naming, it is possible to insert tokens to define the name and Material to be assigned to the contour lines.
